Ning Wan (b. 1997) is an Oil Painter, Chinese Calligrapher, Illustrator, and Color Designer based in Seattle, Washington.
He was born in Silver Spring, Maryland to a 1st generation Taiwanese immigrant father and 4th generation Chinese American mother, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. His lived experiences as a queer/trans, “mixed generation” Chinese-Taiwanese American underlie his drive to create work that dismisses the perfect, unattainable ghost and embraces an expansive perspective on cultural heritage and legacy. Wan invites viewers to cross the bounds of time, history, life and death, and bring the mythological into the modern mundane.
